7 Plants That Grow and Bloom in Water (So You Don’t Need Soil)

Houseplants are both useful and valuable indoors because they help refresh the air, create a calming atmosphere, and add natural beauty to your home.
However, not everyone has the time to care for plants. If that’s the case for you, you’ll be happy to know that some plants can grow in water instead of soil.
The key is to provide the nutrients that soil would normally supply. It’s a simple process, and although growth may be slower, you can still enjoy an indoor garden without spending hours maintaining it.
Dracaena braunii (Lucky Bamboo)
Despite its name and bamboo-like appearance, lucky bamboo is not actually a member of the bamboo family. It is commonly associated with wealth, prosperity, and good fortune.
Keep the stems fully submerged in water, place the plant in bright indirect light, and add fertilizer at least every two months.
Epipremnum aureum (Pothos)
Thanks to its incredible hardiness and tropical appearance, pothos is one of the world’s most popular houseplants.
To grow pothos in water, make sure the cut end of the stem is completely submerged. It may take several weeks for roots to develop.
Peppermint
If you’re looking for a plant that is both decorative and practical, peppermint is an excellent choice. This aromatic herb, widely used in cooking, grows well in water.
It requires very little maintenance. Simply place the stems in water until roots develop, then keep the plant in a sunny location to encourage new growth.
